Van Loon
Van Loon
Van Loon is a funk-fusion instrumental trio from Chicago! With varying influences from bands such as The Meters, Weather Report, P-Funk, Vulfpeck, Soulive and more, Van Loon sounds like a dense collection of funk grooves with the intensity of a classic fusion band wrapped into one. Founded in the summer of 2016, Van Loon is dedicated to delivering a live music experience unrivaled in energy and groove! Van Loon just finished recording their first set of demos from November 2016, which are being made available for listen on their official Soundcloud page.

Adorned with three Bachelor's degrees in Music and with many combined years of experience playing around Chicago and touring in different bands, the members of Van Loon are well-seasoned professionals in the Chicago music scene.
Mich Shirey (Shaggwell, Gramps the Vamp) delivers a clean guitar attack that grooves just as hard in a solo as he does playing rhythm!
Nick Fane (Nick Moss Band) delivers a punchy low-end that incorporates years of playing blues and hard rock into his fusion stylings!
Dave Brandwein (MELK, Meagan Hickman, Owen Stevenson, Western Automatic) hits the drums with the finesse of a jazz musician combined with the raw power of a rock drummer to create a dynamic style that propels each song to new heights!

I mean, doesn't that just sound awesome? Damn right it does, and those are just words. Just wait until you're actually experiencing them with your ears and stuff.
