This event is 21 and over

An underdog dream from an underdog state. The product of restless feet and the need to say something. Michigander has been the toil and passion of Jason Singer since 2015. It's being built in basements and back rooms of churches and vans without mufflers. It's living on stages, floors, and in studios—sounding big and packing light.

Michigander (aka Jason Singer) is an indie rock act from west Michigan that has been gaining a lot of momentum after the release of his debut single “Nineties”. The song is in regular rotation on dozens of college radio stations around the country, and has been featured on official Spotify playlists including "Indie All Stars" and "Viral Hits" accumulating over half a million plays since its release. Although live shows and recordings consist of a full band, Michigander at its core is a solo project. Jason has also recorded sessions with Audiotree, Daytrotter, and So Far. In April 2017 Michigander released a new single called ‘Fears” which was premiered on DIY (UK) and featured on NPR’s World Cafe.

In the past year, Michigander has performed with such acts as Ra Ra Riot, Tokyo Police Club, Twin Peaks and Boy & Bear. On top of that the band has been a key part of the up and coming midwest music scene, headlining packed out rooms all over Michigan. In addition Michigander has toured all over the midwest, east coast, and the south including a trip to SXSW. This year Jason and the band are set to play festivals alongside Alt-J, Solange, Foster the People, Solange, Run the Jewels and Two Door Cinema Club.
Meagan Hickman
Meagan Hickman
Chicago Native, Meagan Hickman’s new album “SIGHTLINES” takes a direct look into the raw, electric, complex growth of a woman, musician, writer, producer, sister, daughter, lover, and friend. With catchy hooks, memorable grooves, and honest lyrics, Hickman’s message sheds light on life’s daily obstacles and human struggles; urging listeners to alter their perceptions to create new and fresh perspectives.

“Sightlines is an explosion of talent, its eleven tunes ranging stylistically from a straight-ahead rock anthem (the fantastic opener, “Seize the Day”) to sweetly twangy country-pop (“Not That Girl”); there’s even an R&B ballad (“Time Moves On”) that Aretha could’ve recorded (and what the hell, might yet).” – Newcity Music

A graduate of Boston’s Berklee College Music, Meagan’s journey started long before college. She began her training at the age of 6, touring the world as a member of the renowned Anima Singers. Her work since then, both onstage as an artist and behind the scenes as a production coordinator, has kept her touring nationwide. From 2011 to 2012, Meagan completed her first coast to coast US tour in support of her debut EP, “On My Way.” In the Summer of 2015 Meagan toured extensively throughout the Midwest and East Coast, promoting her most recent, full-length album, Sightlines. When not on the road, Meagan spends her time inspiring young artists, by teaching voice, piano, and songwriting lessons, as well as instructing group classes at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago.

As a performer, Meagan’s love for music and positive messages come across effortlessly. Her ability to connect with audiences and share her experiences has afforded her opportunities to play some of Chicago’s most well respected venues including The Metro, Lincoln Hall, Schubas, Double Door, Cubby Bear, Mayne Stage, Evanston SPACE, Navy Pier, Daley Plaza, and more!
She has also shared the stage with established national and international acts such as UK artist Lucy Rose, Natalie Cressman (Trey Anastasio Band), Liz Longley, Lawrence, The O'Mys, The Heard, Santah, Waters, and Tim Stop.
Ryan Harris Brown
Ryan Harris Brown
Nashville based singer/songwriter, Ryan Harris Brown, uses his love of intimate storytelling and his expert, classic musicianship, to create songs that are both thought provoking and unforgettable. Influenced by songwriters such as John Mayer, Ben Folds, and James Taylor, Ryan strives to take his listeners on a journey of his own self-discovery, growth, love, and adventure, while inviting listeners to reflect on their own along side him.

After the release of his EP, Wave Goodbye, Wave Hello in 2013, Ryan was busy touring and sharing his music across the country. He continued writing, wanting to build off of, what he considers WGWH to be, a personal introduction and a collection of songs about acceptance and progression.

Furthering his examination of time and personal development, Ryanʼs debut full length album, Stranded in The Present Tense, (Spring 2017) chronicles the next chapter of his life. The recording of this album was delayed by almost a year, as Ryan dealt with severe medical concerns, which kept him in and out of the hospital. Ryan celebrated his recovery by returning to studios in both Portland, OR, and Nashville, TN, in 2016 to create the album. Featuring acclaimed artists and musicians such as 2017 Grammy nominated, Sierra Hull (Best Folk Album of the year), Nir Z (John Mayer, Jason Mraz, Geneses), and David LaBruyere (John Mayer), and co-produced with Gus Berry, a fellow Berklee graduate, this album continues to showcase Ryanʼs guitar vocabulary and relatable songwriting.

With health complications behind him, Ryan is looking forward to sharing this new release with people across the country. In this words of his single, “Begin,” “As one thing ends, something new begins.”
